At Community Volunteer Wales (CVW), we believe that dogs are family. That’s why our we are proudly a dog-friendly cafe —welcoming you and your four-legged companions with open arms, comfy corners, and even the occasional doggie biscuit!

Whether you’ve just strolled through a local park, hiked a scenic trail, or wandered the town with your pup, our coffee shops are the ideal place to unwind. With cozy seating, a relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of space for paws to stretch out, it’s the perfect setting to catch your breath and enjoy a well-earned cuppa at our dog friendly cafe.

Local Walks Near Snug Risca (60 Tredegar Street, NP11 6BW)
1. Sirhowy Valley Country Park Circular
📍 Wattsville, Cross Keys
🦴 Distance: 4.2 km (2.6 miles) loop
⏱️ Time: ~1 hour 15 minutes
🌿 A peaceful woodland and riverside walk with gentle inclines and well-maintained paths—perfect for a relaxed stroll with your pup
2. Twmbarlwm Walk from Risca
📍 Start from Risca town centre
🦴 Distance: ~8 km (5 miles) round trip
⏱️ Time: ~2.5 hours
🌄 A more challenging walk with steep climbs and rewarding views over the valleys. Ideal for energetic dogs and adventurous owners
3. Crumlin Arm Canal Walk
📍 Access from Risca and Pontymister
🦴 Distance: ~14.2 km (8.8 miles) loop
⏱️ Time: ~3.5–4 hours
🚶♂️ A flat, scenic canal-side walk with lots of wildlife and waterside charm. Great for longer, leisurely outings
Local Walks Near Snug Sycamore Centre (Thistle Way, Ty Sign)
1. Mynydd Machen Loop
📍 Start from Sirhowy Valley Country Park or Ty Sign
🦴 Distance: ~12.8 km (8 miles) loop
⏱️ Time: ~3.5–4 hours
⛰️ A hill walk with panoramic views over Cardiff Bay and the Severn Estuary. A great choice for a half-day adventure with your dog
2. Twmbarlwm from Crosskeys
📍 Start from Crosskeys or Cwmcarn Forest Drive
🦴 Distance: ~3.2 km (2 miles) loop
⏱️ Time: ~1 hour
🌳 A shorter, easier route to the summit of Twmbarlwm with beautiful views and a manageable incline—perfect for a quick outing
